A Love Letter to the Rocky Mountains

My heart has always belonged to the Rocky Mountains. From the snow-capped summer peaks to the scent of pine logs burning in a cozy winter fireplace, no other place truly feels like home.

Unfortunately, I’ve lived most of my life in the flat, hot, dry desert of the southern plains.

Basing myself in the Rockies is the ideal move for setting up my travels. Several National Parks, Monuments, and Historic Sites are within driving distance of where I plan to stay. The airport in Denver can get me anywhere else.

For several years now, I’ve been trying to save up enough money to move back up north and into Colorado or Wyoming. But there’s always a road block, and it’s usually a financial one. Sometimes something breaks, and an expensive repair sucks up my savings. Occasionally it’s a health issue that needs to be taken care of. Most recently, it’s the crappy local job market.

But I’m not giving up. I have no savings, no job or housing prospects, and no solid plans. I get frustrated, and discouraged almost daily. But the desire to get away from the environment I currently live in is embedded into my very soul.

If my readers are at all able to help with this, please consider doing so. You can support my endeavors by following my Twitch channel (see Streaming the Dream: Participation is a Follow Away for more info on that.) I also have my virtual tip jar linked on every page on this blog site.

I have to do this. Not just for me, but for my family’s health and well-being. The Rocky Mountains are home, even when I’m not there.
